Knee Pain

Physiotherapy knee treatment at The Physio Joint is designed to help reduce pain, improve mobility and strengthen the muscles around the knee joint. Whether you’re recovering from an injury or an operation, managing arthritis, or dealing with issues like ligament strains or tendonitis or patello-femoral tracking issues, our physios use a combination of manual therapy techniques, strengthening exercises and personalised rehabilitation plans. This approach not only helps alleviate discomfort but also improves joint stability and function, enabling you to move more freely and safely in your daily activities.

Pain from the knee is often the result of either prolonged poor movement patterns or trauma.

For example, the inability to control movement of the knee within its hinge-like motion and instead, allow excessive twisting forces causes strain on the joint and its surrounding structures. Like the forces you apply to your right knee when you get out of a car compared to the forces you apply to the same knee when you stand up from a chair facing forward. Knee osteoarthritis fits into this category.

Trauma to the knee is obviously a completely different issue. We have the skills to assess for specific ligament and meniscus injuries. We can refer for the appropriate scans, where necessary and we are closely aligned with high quality local knee specialists, should you require a surgical opinion.

Our physios here at The Physio Joint will determine the biomechanical cause of your knee symptoms. We will treat the acute symptoms and get them under control, then address the underlying movement deficiencies, to prevent future reinjury.

We are well placed to treat and manage long term knee problems including knee osteoarthritis.
