n our clinical experiences, we have noticed that people who get headaches from their necks or pain from their neck, shoulder, shoulder blade and arm are more likely to have lost the ability to perform neck retraction.
Neck retraction is essentially the movement of a chin tuck.
Within our treatments at The Physio Joint, we always look to improve people’s ability to perform both active and passive neck retraction. Active retraction retrains muscle control in the deep neck muscles around the upper neck joints.
Here at The Physio Joint, treatment options combined to improve the performance of neck retraction. This in turn helps to restore the normal resting positions of the upper neck joints and reduces soft tissue strain, thereby decreasing referred pain.
Tune in over the next few weeks where we will be highlighted different ways in which we can perform this movement and how best to apply this to your treatment.
